While perhaps a less prominent figure, a vital part of the long-running animated television series (from September, 1960 until April, 1966) The Flintstones, was the wife of Barney Rubble, the lovely Betty.
Betty Rubble, like her best friend Wilma Flintstone, was a stay-at-home housewife and (later) mother. Also like Wilma, she is portrayed as more intelligent and level-headed than her husband, Barney. Betty winds up spending great deals of time keeping tabs on the whereabouts of Barney and lead character, Fred Flintstone.
During the 6 season run of The Flintstones, the voice of Betty Rubble was played by two different women. From 1960-1964, it was played by Bea Benaderet. For the final two season, 1965-1966, the voice of Betty was Gerry Johnson.
