The Flintstones were your average family, except they lived back in the stone age. Fred, Wilma, and Pebbles Flintstone were a family that was representative of a typical American family that was stuck back in the stone age and was forced to live their lives like any modern family would do – without all of the modern conveniences and modern technology. It should come as no big surprise that this show was a hit with children and adults alike because it was funny, well scripted, and very applicable to our daily lives.
The Flintstones drove around in a car that they had to peddle with their feet. When all of the family members would get into the car they would all start peddling and the car would go. They would stop in at their favorite burger joint and they would be feast on dino-burgers and dino-eggs. Their food was fun, as well as their appliances! (Sink was a Wooly Mammoth, camera was a little bird that would chisel onto a stone tablet, etc.)
The Flintstones were very typical in almost every way (other than they lived during the stone age!) They were best friends with their neighbors, Barney, Betty, and BamBam Rubble. All in all, this family showed us that no matter what time period, we are all very similar.
