Probably the nerdiest of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Donatello is responsible for a lot of the cool stuff the turtles have such as the Turtle Van, the Turtle Comms, the Turtle Blimp, and so on. Genius inventor or no, his naming was a bit uncreative, but his gear tended to perform well. Considering his technical bent, it might seem a bit surprising that he uses a simple bo staff in combat.
As a hardware geek, Donatello appealed to nerdier viewers. He might not have been the toughest fighter or the most likely to let loose a “clever” joke under pressure, but he gave hope to nerds everywhere that they too could be cool if they invented implausible Turtle-based vehicles.
Like most of the turtles, Donatello was a popular toy when originally released, and thus not too hard to get a hold of used. Unlike some of the turtles, his staff was relatively thick, and less likely to break or bend than his brothers, so its condition isn’t quite as important.
