The Sons of the Pioneers was a famous western band which included a guitar playing singer and guitar who went by the name Roy Rogers. Many people probably remember him best from his television show, The Roy Rogers Show. This show aired in the 1950s. (Of course, Roy was also in many, many movies.) The show included Roy and his wife Dale Evans, along with their famous horses (Trigger and Buttermilk), and their dog, Bullet.
The popularity of the show continues today for collectors who search for items from the show. Collectors enjoy everything from lunchboxes, photos and magazines. Toy guns and holsters are collected, that were replicated to look like the television show’s guns.
Roy and Dale captured many viewers’ attention and their hearts. Hollywood lost an icon in 1998 with the death of Roy Rogers.
