My Little Pony was one of the most popular toys during the mid to late 1980’s and into the early 1990’s was a line of toys created by Hasbro. These colorful and delightful toys brought joy to many children and offered up a tough competition to other toys that were popular at the same time (such as Care Bears, Moon Dreamers, and Rainbow Bright.)
The original My Little Pony line ran from 1983 until 1995. Each pony in the series was made of a rubber-like material with a colorful, synthetic plastic mane and tail that children could comb and style. This first generation also featured unicorns, pegasus, and sea horses. Other variations such as Majesty and Twinkle Eye Ponies could be purchased through a special mail order offer.
Each individual pony had a symbol on its haunches corresponding to its name that helped to make My Little Pony one of the most memorable children’s toys of the time!
