Clearly, one of the most iconic and recognizable visuals of the 1960s science fiction series, Lost In Space, was the “Jupiter 2” – the Robinson family’s mode of transportation. Shaped in a disc/saucer fashion, the Jupiter 2 allowed for a flying saucer to visit other worlds from Earth instead of the notion of them visiting us.

This nuclear powered, star traveling, mobile home was complete with living quarters, galley, laboratory, and even a place to keep the robot. Additionally, for those times when the crew would be traveling in space for long periods of time, the Jupiter 2 had ‘freeze tubes’ which placed each crew member in suspended animation. It was a two layer ship, each layer connected by an electric elevator and a ladder.
