The Lego Duplo Thomas and Friends collaboration began in 2005. Thomas and Friends is the shortened version of the previous Thomas the Tank Engine. Featured characters included (of course) Thomas the Tank Engine, as well as Percy the Small Engine, Toby the Tram Engine, Troublesome Truck, and James the Red Engine. The final character lineup is large, and the concept of the series allows children to continuously update their track with new pieces and characters.
Thomas and Friends has been a large part of many children’s activities. The show fosters good character development. The Lego Duplo blocks are made for children who are too young to enjoy the regular Lego building blocks. The ideal age is marked on the box, but overall, the Duplo Legos are for children under the age of six. Because of the larger size, the children do not get frustrated.
