Hess Toy History
Hess toys were manufactured beginning in the 1960s, with a different toy being released every year. The first toy truck was introduced in 1964 as a way to provide families with affordable and fun toys during the holiday season. Hess Toy Truck models have ranged from tanker trucks to airplanes and even the space shuttle. They not only produce full-sized model cars, but miniature ones as well. The miniature truck line currently in production began in the late 1990s. The current 2012 model began production in May 2012.
Other Fire Trucks
Hess toys also released a 1989 fire truck bank, which differs from the 1986 fire truck bank in a few subtle ways. The most obvious difference is the color. While the 1986 Hess fire truck bank is red, this one is white and green. The 1989 fire truck bank has a dual sound siren, and the ladder is red. The 1986 fire truck sports a white ladder. Both have working lights. The color alone should tell the casual observer that there is a difference between the two fire truck banks. Another fire truck was also released in the miniature series, and in 1970 a full-sized fire truck was released, but that truck was not a bank. That one, too, had working lights.
The adorable 1986 fire engine bank will make a great addition to any collection. Its sturdy construction and beautiful appearance mean that the 1986 Hess Toy Truck : Hess Fire Truck Bank will be enjoyed for many years to come.
