The Hess Toy Truck released for Christmas in 1982 was a remake of the original and classic toy made in 1964, the very first of the Hess Toy Trucks. This item was to become a prized collectible. It is closely modeled after the original, even including the hose that pulls out and which is rewound around the wheel.

An even rarer find is the same exact model that, instead of having a red light like most of the models made that year, came with a black light switch. This rare find is in every way a duplicate of the other edition released in 1982, based on the 1933 Chevy Tanker Delivery Truck that Leon Hess drove to deliver fuel oil to customers. A mint in box edition would be the pride of any Hess Toy Truck collector.
