Hess gas stations began selling Hess toy trucks back in 1964 and continued making replicas of Hess vehicles until 1987. In 1987 Hess began selling non-fleet toy vehicles. In 1980 Hess introduced the GMC training van that was used for training seminars at Hess service stations.

The original selling price of the Hess training van was $3.29. Six hundred thousand training vans were manufactured. It is a white GMC RV (recreational vehicle) with green light-p Hess logos. There is a switch on the bottom that turns on the head and tail lights. The side door opens and there is a pop up TV antenna. It is about twelve inches long. On the bottom of the training van it is stamped 1978 but it was only sold in 1980.
