The 1977 Hess Fuel Oil Tanker is painted dark green. Accenting the green is a white stripe on the tank that runs through the Hess logo. The words “Fuel Oils” and “Gasoline” also appear on the white stripe in green lettering. Yellow wheel wells in the front, a red truck chassis, and red hubcaps complete the color scheme of the truck.

Head and tail lights illuminate on the truck by an operating switch on the underside of the truck. The cab of the truck holds a chrome grill on the front. The Hess logo also appears in chrome above the grill. Also, the red hubcaps on the tires are marked “Amerada Hess.” This is a divergence from earlier models. The 1978 Hess truck is very similar to this truck.
