The 1968 Hess Tanker Truck Tanker Truck is slightly identical to the 1967 Hess toy truck with a few differences. There are some differences such as the decals are on opposite sides, the Marx Toy Company is on the battery cover, there is no instruction card, and the red velvet base has been discontinued.

The early 1969 Hess toy truck was the splitting image of the 1968 Hess tanker truck. There were no differences within the truck. The only difference was that the box home office is now Woodbridge, New Jersey.
A special model of the 1969 Hess tanker truck was made due to the company merging with the Amerada Petroleum Corporation. The decals on the truck changed to say Amerada Hess and the Gasoline and Fuel decals were moved to the back of the truck.
