In 1954 and 1955, the Davy Crockett “miniseries” ran in five segments on the ABC television station. Although the producers were initially surprised by the success of the first segments of the show, they quickly licensed many pieces of Davy Crockett memorabilia. There was a Davy Crockett coonskin hat, a series of Davy Crockett trading cards, a Davy Crockett bowl, and a Davy Crockett cup. (Of course, there were many other items!)
One popular Davy Crockett cup is a white mug showing a frontier scene on it with horses and covered wagons. This mug was manufactured by Fire-King Anchor Hocking Glass. Another popular Davy Crockett cup is a white mug with Davy chasing an Indian on horseback. The mug also says “Davy Crockett: Indian Fighter” within a banner. This mug was manufactured by the Hazel-Atlas company.
There were several Davy Crockett bowls made, one of which was made by Fire-King. It had a bright red picture of Davy Crockett (knife in hand) taking on a bear.
