The love of comic books usually begins as a child. A lot of children grow out of it, but not all. Many in their teenage years just switch the genre of the comic books they read. Then, as adults, these publications become treasured collectors’ items.
This is the case with Davy Crockett Comic releases. Based on the successful TV programs which aired as part of the Disneyland program, multiple comic books were written and illustrated in the image of star, Fess Parker. Oftentimes, an actual photo of Parker graced the covers of the comic books.
Dell published their first Davy Crockett Comic in May of 1955. Three more followed by the end of the year. And, as they say, the rest is history!
