In the 1950s, Walt Disney released a television show based on the life of Davy Crockett, who was born in 1786 and died in 1836. The series ran from December 15, 1954 until December 14, 1955. Television viewers fell in love with the character and the series. With the success of the show came a collection of products and collectibles. These included Davy Crockett badges and the world famous ‘Coonskin cap’. The coonskin cap is much more well known than the badges, yet there are more versions and variations of the badges.
Walt Disney released an official character badge, which was a Frontier Marshall badge with a photo of Fess Parker, who played Davy in the 1950s series, in a coonskin cap. Above the photo it says ‘Walt Disney’s Official’ and below the photo it says ‘Davy Crockett’.
