When Disney put out the TV miniseries, Davy Crockett, in December of 1954, they were actually, surprised at just how popular the first three programs in the series were with television watchers across America. They were happy with the response of the public and quickly made some great toys and developed a Davy Crockett Coon Skin Cap sized to fit children’s heads.
Soon, little boys everywhere wanted to own their own Davy Crockett Coon Skin Cap. The cap was popular in the United States as well as the United Kingdom. Makers of the caps made them with either faux fur or real fur with a coon tail, and a girls’ version was made that was white with a coon stripe tail. Children wore them very proudly.
